Statement of Capabilities

Types of Backup Available with TiBS Full
Network Full Backup : A type of Full Backup that copies Primary Storage on a target system over a network to Secondary Storage. The TiBS Full Version requires an initial Network Full Backup but then eliminates the need for future periodic Network Full Backups. More...
True incremental Backup: A special type of Direct or Network Partial Cumulative Incremental Backup. A True incremental backup will only backup the files that have been modified or created since the most recent backup from the client. Note: The last client backup could be at any level. More...
Network Synthetic Cumulative incremental Backup: This unique type of backup takes a True incremental backup from a backup client and consolidates it with previous Cumulative Incremental backup data on a backup server to produce a new Cumulative Incremental backup. More...
Synthetic Cumulative Incremental: A special type of Cumulative Incremental that will consolidate some or all of the Backup Volumes that have been created since the most recent backup at level n-1 or lower on the Backup System. This process is performed by a Backup System with no interaction with the Primary Storage on the target system. The resulting backup volume contains the same data as one that would have been taken from the target system for that period of time. More...
Synthetic Partial-Cumulative Incremental: A special type of Partial Cumulative Incremental that will consolidate some or all of the Backup Volumes that have been created since the most recent backup at level n or lower on the Backup System. This process is performed by a Backup System with no interaction with the Primary Storage on the target system. The resulting backup volume contains the same data as one that would have been taken from the target system for that period of time. More...
Synthetic Full Backup: A type of Full Backup that consolidates Incremental Backups with a previous Full Backup to produce a current Full Backup. This process is performed by a backup system with no interaction with the target system. The resulting backup volume contains the same data as one that would have been taken from the target system at that period in time. More...
TiBS Full Version Supported Platforms
The True incremental Backup System is enterprise network backup system software for large distributed processing environments. TiBS has support for AIX, BSD_OS, Digital UNIX, FreeBSD, HP-UX, IRIX, Linux, Mac OSX, NetBSD, Solaris, and Microsoft Windows. TiBS has support for a variety of network file systems including OpenAFS and NFS. NAS and SAN storage solutions are also available. More...
Unique Pricing Model
Teradactyl believes that a simplified pricing model our customers understand is important in earning your business and permitting you to plan for the future with us. Visit our main pricing page or find more detail about these elements:
1. Select a Version of TiBS. Basic, Lite and Full version options provide you with solutions to meet your current needs. We apply 100% of your software purchase price to version upgrades! More...
2. Determine the types of operating & network file systems you wish to backup. Teradactyl has no per seat charges or surcharges for workstations or servers. All supported versions of Linux, for instance, are included as a single platform. Simply select your client platforms! More...
3. Determine the number of backup processes. Adding backup processes will permit you to transfer more True incremental changes in parallel from your clients to the backup system. In general, the more processes you deploy the faster you will complete the network backup window. Adding processing power allows you to support more data or contract backup windows. More...
4. Choose a storage module. Disk and Tape Library software modules are licensed per TiBS backup server at a flat fee regardless of capacity. You can increase storage as required without paying additional software license fees unless you add additional backup servers. Choose Disk Backup, Tape Backup, or use both technologies to leverage the advantages of each while mitigating the risks of either one alone. More...
5. Add Open Transaction Manager if you wish to backup open files on Microsoft Windows More...
6. Select your annual software maintenance plan. These plans are a fixed percentage of your software purchase price. A variety of plans are available to suit your needs. More...
TiBS Full Version Enterprise Backup

The Full Version of the True incremental Backup System® is the most advanced software tool available for synthetically generating backup volumes at multiple levels. Subsequent to an initial full backup of target systems, only daily True incremental file changes are required to be transferred across the network. These True incremental changes can be synthetically consolidated on the backup server to create not only new full backup volumes, but also cumulative incremental, differential, and partial cumulative incremental backup volumes. This provides sites with maximum control over data granularity, consolidation schedules, and storage resources. Restores are a single pass and are, therefore, not subject to the delays and other problems associated with multi-pass approaches.
Multiple Level Synthetic Backup Consolidation Saves Storage Resources. More...
Key Features of TiBS Full Version
Eliminates periodic full network backups. After an initial full backup, only True incremental backup volumes are transferred across the network. TiBS Full Version can consolidate those changes on the backup server with other data already in the backup system to produce full and intermediate level backup volumes without network intervention. TiBS is the most advanced synthetic backup consolidation software for complex level backup strategies.
Multi-Level and Multi-Volume Synthetic Backup Consolidation. TiBS consolidates the True incremental volumes offline in a variety of configurable fashions entirely offline to meet the desired balance of storage cost, data granularity, and expedient restore times.
Verification and repair of backup volumes.TiBS can be configured to verify backup volumes on both disk and tape. Verification helps to quickly detect failing backup media or backup storage sub-systems in advance of a critical restore. Corrupt synthetic backup volumes may be repaired by recreating them from previous backup volumes.
Parallel transfer of True incremental changes over the network. Sites can control the network backup window by adding more processes to simultaneously transfer data from multiple operating, network, and global file systems to TiBS backup servers.
Choose between disk, tape, or combined data storage modules. Storage is licensed per backup server regardless of capacity. Multiple tape libraries and disk arrays can be added to a licensed backup server at no additional cost.
Single Pass Restores! Competitive products will usually restore a full volume and sequentially apply incremental backup volumes in order. This process is both time consuming and can restore data intentionally deleted since the last full backup. For many institutions, this is resulting in potential regulatory or security implications. TiBS will quickly and efficiently restore only the required files in a single pass operation.
Redundancy of synthetic full and mid-level backup consolidations. TiBS has built in redundancy for volumes created with our synthetic backup consolidation technology. Additional redundancy can be created via disk or tape mirroring.
Multiple levels of data integrity verification. All versions of TiBS include extensive tools for monitoring read, write, and network transfer operations to more quickly detect and isolate problems affecting backup system operations and data integrity.
If you own a Basic or Lite Version of TiBS, 100% of software purchase price can be applied to your TiBS Full Version Upgrade! Both capacity and capabilities of the backup system can be upgraded as required.
