Compare TiBS Versions

TiBS has three versions to allow users to balance product capabilities with their own internal needs, approaches, and budgets. To expedite your research, Teradactyl has created a product comparison page to illustrate differences in core funtionality. More...

Data Storage Options

Disk backup software is available with the TiBS Disk Library Interface. Available for all versions, TiBS permits storage of data on non-proprietary disk. Module is licensed for a flat fee per TiBS backup server with no restrictions on capacity! More...

Tape backup software is available with the TiBS Automated Tape Library Interface. Available for all versions, TiBS is a Disk to Disk to Tape solution for storage of data on non-proprietary robotic tape libraries. Module is licensed for a flat fee per TiBS backup server with no restrictions on the capacity, number of slots, or number of tape drives! More...

All versions of TiBS can use both the disk and tape storage modules together with the ability to control the specific backup levels stored on each type of media. More...

Three Versions of TiBS

True incremental Backup System Full Version. Multi-Level (3 or more) and Multi-Volume Synthetic Backup Consolidation for Large Distributed Processing Environments. New Full and Intermediate level backup volumes are generated synthetically and without network interaction. This includes the unique ability to use synthetically generated partial cumulative incremental backup volumes for significant storage savings in disk based enterprise backup by reducing data redundancy. More...

True incremental Backup System Lite Version. Two Level (Full & True incremental) Synthetic Backup Consolidation for Mid-Size Distributed Processing Environments. New Full Backup volumes are generated synthetically on the backup server to eliminate the need for periodic network full backups. More...

True incremental Backup System Basic Version.

Two Level (Full and True incremental). All True incremental changes can be consolidated to produce a differential backup volume to reduce the frequency of network full backups while still producing expedient restore times. More...

Teradactyl's patented Synthetic Consolidation

As an original pioneer in the development of this technology, Teradactyl has more than a decade of experience and highly reliable performance. Continuing to refine this technology, Teradactyl not only reduces the impact of backup operations on networks and clients, but develops new methods to reduce data redundancy in mass storage systems. True incremental Backup System Software

Teradactyl's flagship product is the True incremental Backup System (TiBS). TiBS is a software application that employs centralized servers for backup and recovery of computer systems operating under MacOSX, Microsoft Windows, most popular forms of UNIX, Linux, NFS, and both OpenAFS and IBM AFS® (Andrew File System). Our unique patented synthetic backup consolidation technology, TeraMerge®, takes an initial full backup of the data on a client computer system and then only requires the transfer of data which is new or has changed since the previous backup to be sent across the network to the backup server. Review information on supported platforms.

The TiBS backup server is capable of merging the True incremental backup volumes with the existing backup data to create multiple lower level backups, including cumulative incremental, differential, partial cumulative incremental, and consolidated full, backup volumes. This multiple level and multiple volume synthetic backup consolidation is performed entirely on the backup server without the need for network intervention. Review Backup Terminology.

Periodic full network backups are not required to maintain expedient restore times.

TeraMerge synthetic backup consolidation technology significantly reduces the impact of backup processing on both client computer systems and the network by eliminating the need for periodic full and lower level network backups. Network backup windows are dramatically contracted. TeraMerge multi-level synthetic backup consolidations provide user control of both disk and tape costs with the ability to also control the granularity of data revisions in the backup system. Backup Definitions - Understanding the Terminology

Backup Definitions & Illustrations: If you're new to the industry terminology or confused by the conflicting use of terms, this section will help you understand the basics. We include basic types of backups such as a Full Backup and various forms of incremental Backups including; Cumulative incremental Backup, Differential Backup, Partial Cumulative incremental Backup, and a True incremental Backup. Understanding these definitions can help you design an enterprise network backup system architecture that balances speed, efficiency, and cost considerations. More...
