Teradactyl licenses the True incremental Backup System by operating and network file system to eliminate per seat charges. Parallel processing of backup clients permit the product to scale in capacity as the data sizes escalate. Disk libraries are licensed to individual TiBS backup servers thus eliminating all software charges for increasing storage capacity on the Disk Array. The TiBS Disk Library Interface (DLI) can store True incremental and full backup volumes on disk. The DLI also has the ability to store multiple-level synthetic cumulative incremental backups such as weekly or monthly consolidations on disk, a unique feature with TiBS. The DLI creates new synthetic backup consolidations more quickly than can be done from tape.

This expanded capability provides for even faster restore times for mission critical data by reducing tape load time and seek times. Restore individual files faster. You can retain full backups of your critical data in the disk library for near-line storage your most valuable information. TiBS checksum analysis ensures that files are backed up and restored properly.

In addition to faster restore times, the DLI will also allow shorter network backup windows and more data to be supported per backup server. Use of the DLI in conjunction with robotic tape libraries can reduce wear and tear on the tape drives and backup server disk drives. This will increase the effective storage capacity of your tape systems. Different data retention policies are available for disk and tape.

The Disk Library Interface for the True incremental Backup System can operate as a stand alone unit or in conjunction with Robotic Tape Libraries. Teradactyl recommends the use of RAID 6 for Disk Library Storage in production backup & disaster recovery environments.
