Teradactyl lands its backup software company
in New Mexico
Albuquerque,
NM (May 1, 2002) -Teradactyl, LLC officials are looking to Albuquerque
to expand their operations.
Though
the plans are not set, it is likely that this three-year-old Albuquerque-Pittsburgh
software engineering company will need new space in Albuquerque
to meet the growing demand for its technology and services. Teradactyl's
revolutionary backup software is changing the way companies deal
with backup system problems by saving them time, money and network
resources. The company's True incremental Backup System
(TiBS) so impressed administrators at Carnegie Mellon University
in Pittsburgh that two of the university's departments have signed
up for the technology.
The
company's contracts with Carnegie Mellon University, one of the
vanguard schools of computer technology, are proof of the reliability
of the software. Teradactyl's software is streamlining backup
of the university's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
and its School of Computer Science.
TiBS
is the invention of Carnegie Mellon graduate Kristen J. Webb,
Partner & CTO. He recognized the need for more efficient backup
strategies and created the software to fill the need.
"TiBS
is the most intelligent backup software on the market. Once we
take a full backup from a computer we never need to access the
unchanged files again," Webb said. "After the first
backup, only changed files are transferred across the network.
The software has such a minimal impact on network resources that
companies can afford to run backups even during operational hours."
What's
most important, Webb noted, is that the TiBS restore feature is
simple, efficient and reliable.
Teradactyl
settled in Albuquerque in January 1999 to be at the center of
an expanding hub of technology companies, said John N. Riley,
III, Partner & CEO. "The more data an organization has
in its information systems, the greater they will benefit from
our technology. We know that this is where the next technology
explosion will occur and we want to be in the middle of it."
"What
is happening in New Mexico today is shaping the future of the
world," Webb said. "Teradactyl is looking to expand
here in New Mexico because we want to be a part of the visionary
perspective that makes this area vibrant. We believe that through
our revolutionary technology, we can protect the research and
information that will shape tomorrow's world."
