Teradactyl is the home of the True incremental Backup System
Welcome to Teradactyl!

Teradactyl specializes in the development of enterprise network backup system software for backup and disaster recovery of large installations in commercial, education, and government sectors. Teradactyl’s patented multi-level and multi-volume synthetic consolidation enables system administrators to run perpetual True incremental network backups. The True incremental Backup System (TiBS) consolidates the incremental volumes offline in a variety of configurable fashions to meet the desired balance of cost, data granularity, and expedient restore times. TiBS can scale backup operations with significantly lower impact on network and client resources while maintaining disk and tape verification and repair to protect restore integrity.

Backup Definitions & Illustrations: If you're new to the industry terminology or confused by the conflicting use of terms, this section will help you understand the basics. We include basic types of backups such as a Full Backup and various forms of incremental Backups including; Cumulative incremental Backup, Differential Backup, Partial Cumulative incremental Backup, and a True incremental Backup. Understanding these definitions can help you design an enterprise network backup system architecture that balances speed, efficiency, and cost considerations.
The True incremental Backup System is state of the art enterprise backup system software. Patented multi level synthetic backup consolidation provides system administrators with the ability to emulate traditional level backup strategies without the traditional network overhead and extensive restore times. Daily True incremental backups can be consolidated to produce partial cumulative incremental, cumulative incremental, differential and full backup volumes entirely on the backup server and without network impact. Multi Level backup processing significantly extends the native data size supported by a single backup server. Parallel backup and restore processing provides scale beyond other enterprise backup system software. Teradactyl gives you the software to get your backups done all in one night with a properly configured TiBS Backup Server.
Synthetic Consolidation, also known as backup consolidation, integrates data already contained in the backup system with new incremental backup data to create lower level backup volumes. This technology allows you to take an initial Full Network Backup and then perpetual daily True incremental Backups.

TeraMerge

Patented Multi-Level & Multi-Volume Synthetic Backup Consolidation Technology

Single Level Synthetic Consolidation can merge or consolidate the daily True incremental data with the most recent Full Backup volume to produce a current Full Backup volume. (Download Free White Paper)
TiBS Lite Version

Single Level Synthetic Backup Consolidation

Multi-Level Synthetic Consolidation can merge or consolidate daily True incremental data into many types of backup volumes including partial cumulative incremental, cumulative incremental, differential, and full backup volumes. This process can save backup administrators considerable time, money, and network resources. At the same time, it gives the backup administrator the ability to increase the amount of data, number of clients, and granularity of data revisions supported on a single backup server. Solutions for Central Systems & Infrastructure

The Andrew File System (AFS) is a distributed networked file system developed by Carnegie Mellon University as part of the Andrew Project. It is named for Andrew Carnegie and Andrew Mellon. Its primary use is in distributed computing. This platform has been open sourced (it is now FREE to use) and is known as OpenAFS. OpenAFS has a number of benefits over traditional networked file systems especially in the areas of location independence, scale, security, and transparent migration capabilities for data.
